I was ready to walk. Airlines will not allow an international passenger to check in less than 60 minutes before a flight, and even that can sometimes be iffy.
The accident (which ended up just being a fender bender) was not cleared but we inched along and after 45 minutes we finally passed it and were able to get to Parking Cents - our car's home for the next 17 days. The shuttle driver was so kind! She asked all of the passengers if there was anyone running late. We sheepishly said that we were, and the other two passengers told the driver to drop us off first. Their thoughtfulness got us checked in on time (we checked in ten minutes before the cut off)!! Thank you driver at Parking Cents and kind passengers!
Our stress did not go away automatically though. It's amazing how our tardiness set the tone for the remainder of the day. I've grown accustomed to arriving to the airport early enough to relax, eat a meal, and sit for 30 minutes or so before boarding, so today has just thrown me out of whack! My pre-board meal consisted of a banana from the newsstand, which was delicious but not enough. Further proof that my stress is lingering are my jumpy legs. Even though I am safely seated in 32J with my luggage properly stowed above me and all my activities in the seat back pocket in front of me (book, sudoku, iPOD), I am still not relaxed. Hence, my feverish blogging...
